For the GAPS people out there who can´t travel (or at least can´t travel very easily), this retreat is for you! It´s not only GAPS friendly, but we will actually be traveling with Monica Corrado of www.simplybeingwell.com, who has trained people in GAPS and WAPF traditional foods cooking for many years. Our menu for the week, designed by Monica, is going to be delicious!
We are looking forward to a restorative, nourishing, and healing journey together as strong women with so much purpose and energy for their lives.
What to Expect?
The Theme Of The Trip
The Healing with Real Food Retreat will be a journey just for a woman; a small sisterhood of ladies who want to see Perú as well as gain knowledge and acquire tools in order to access a greater level of health on all levels of body, mind, and spirit. We will be focusing our spiritual practices and holistic health themes specifically on women´s health.

After The Retreat
After our trip together, some people may choose to continue travel in Peru or some may go back to the States. If you wish to stay longer in the Sacred Valley, let us know and we will adjust domestic flight plans according to your itinerary.
Information On Accommodations
During our retreat we will be staying in the Sacred Valley of Peru in a town called Urubamba, housed in a retreat center located within hiking distance to the village. We´ll be breathing fresh air and eating ingredients from local, sustainable farms! There´s no wi-fi at the center (great for an EMF pollution-free zone). If you need to use the internet during our retreat, you can walk down to the village and use the computers at one of the local internet cafes.
A Day In The Life
Our mornings at the retreat center will begin with a yoga class to ground ourselves with a stabilizing and vibrant energy for the day. After yoga we will eat our nutrient-dense breakfast and then have time for a group hike around the mountains of Urubamba. There will also be ample free time to read, relax, meditate, and contemplate the majesty of the Andes mountains.
Our afternoons will be filled with activities such as cooking classes, gardening and nutrition workshops, visits to local organic gardens, sacred ceremonies of traditional Andean music, tours of the Valley including a Cuzco city tour, and much more!

What travel documents do I need?
You will need to bring your passport with you on journey. US citizens do NOT need to apply for a visa before entering Peru. If you are citizen of another country, please check with your own country´s passport/visa requirements with regards to Peru. We recommend making a copy of your passport to leave at home with your family and a copy to bring with you in your suitcase. It´s also a good idea to have a waterproof passport case for storage during your travels.
What will I eat on my retreat?
You can expect nutrient-dense, traditional foods, GAPS and WAPF friendly meals with a Peruvian twist! Please let us know your specific dietary preferences/requests and we will do our best to accommodate!
What will the weather be like?
Peru has a wide variety of climates, depending on the time of year and on the region of the country where you are traveling. Lonely Planet offers a comprehensive explanation of what you can expect weather-wise during your travels. Peru Weather. It will be winter in the Sacred Valley in July. However due to the high altitude and bright, strong sun, we will be able to wear short sleeves (with pants) during the day. Also it is important to bring a hat for some sun protection. At night you will want sweaters and a jacket to layer with.
What if something comes up and I can´t make the trip last-minute?
Sacred Retreats Peru has a non-refundable deposit of 500 USD to hold your spot for this retreats. If you cancel before 60 days prior to the retreat, your trip will be refunded minus the 500 USD non-refundable deposit. If you cancel your journey within 60 days to the retreat, the cost of the trip will not be refunded but can be used as a credit for future travel with Sacred Retreats Peru. The non-refundable deposit is not part of that credit.
Should I bring cash?
It´s always a good idea to have extra cash on hand when you travel. For the retreats you may want to buy snacks and souvenirs that are not included in our trip price. ATMS are widely available and make it easy to take out money. Check with your bank to see what your fees will be for international ATM withdrawals . Also, make sure your bank knows that you will be out of the country and to make a note on your account. It´s a good idea to leave the extra cards, like gas cards and store credit cards, at home. Streamline your wallet. If you have Bank of America, you can take out cash with no fees from Scotia Bank ATMS; they are all over Peru.
What about travel insurance?
Sacred Retreats Peru highly recommends buying a plan with World Nomads.
